The movie, The Wild Robot, was released on Sep. 27, 2024. It is about an abandoned robot named Rozzum 7134, also known as “Roz”, being stranded on an island. As she adapted to her nature, the robot became the mother of a baby bird named Brightbill with the help of some of the animals on the land. With the help of a fox named Fink, they helped Brightbill’s life and his struggle. So today, we are going to review the Wild Robot movie
The introduction of Roz is great, she wakes up on the island and decides to find her first task to assist someone. As she searches throughout the island, she encounters wildlife and notices that she can’t understand their language. With that, she decided to spend weeks learning the languages of each animal. This shows how Roz is programmed as a robot assistant, being able to be equipped to deal with problems and adapt to the environment.
However after all these events, Roz ends up accidentally breaking a tree with a bird nest. Killing the mother bird and the other eggs except for one egg. That one egg she decides to keep safe later hatched, into one baby bird. That baby bird was later named Brightbill and would gain the task of taking care of the bird. This is an amazing plot due to the fact that Brightbill starts to become an important figure for Roz which symbolizes a mother-and-son bond between the two.
Roz wasn’t able to provide the needs or figure out how to help her son, Brightbill, without the help of the other wildlife creatures, shown by the character named Flink. Flink is a fox that is desperately hungry and will eat anything. He even attempts to eat Brightbill both before and after he is born. Despite that, Flink still helps Roz by providing insight like helping Roz with raising her son, showing how every animal is scared of each other, and even getting mental support from Roz by showing that Flink isn’t as lonely and scary as he is.
Brightbill and Roz also are shown to relate to the audience by sharing the same problems as a mother with her troubled teen Brightbill. When Brightbill gets older, he finally finds his own species but figures out quickly that he doesn’t belong with them. This infuriates Brightbill and he starts to hate his position of being the son of a robot, making him not fit in the flock. Brightbill then starts showing his anger and hatred when he starts an argument with Roz about him being adopted and not belonging here. His problems can relate to the audience because of the feeling of not belonging to society. Despite this, this discourse between the mother and her son did not last forever.
Roz starts to learn what it means to be a mother when she admits that she needs to override her system to take care of her task of being a mother, making her gain the emotions of a parent. With the help of the wildlife, she was able to get a flying instructor and a trail made from stone to help Brightbill learn how to fly.
Through it all, The Wild Robot is a marvelous movie and can share a lot of sympathy to its own audience. You should watch the movie and read its original book.
