Every fall, Apple releases a new technology lineup. To some, this time of the year is Christmas come early; people buy and experiment with new software updates and products, specifically the new iPhones, AirPods, iPads and Apple Watches.

Apple’s new iPhone 16 has added many new features. People are excited about its instant emoji creator, email summarizer and photo generators, and are especially curious about the impact integrating OpenAI into Apple Intelligence, Apple’s AI. To many users’ dismay, the camera remains unchanged; Apple attempts to redeem this through a new, customizable button called the Action Button which helps quicken the process of taking photos and videos. Though Apple has added some technology updates to the 2024 iPhone lineup, it seems that there is almost no reason to get the iPhone 16 Pro or iPhone 16 Pro Max. Following the iPhone 16’s release, Apple celebrated the Apple Watch’s 10th anniversary with the Apple Watch Series 10 and the Apple Watch Ultra 2. The Series 10 is the thinnest watch of its generation, according to Apple, packed with everything its past models had, and more. Most would think that the Series 9 and 10 have no difference; both have the same build, the same battery life and same sizes. But, the Series 10 adds a new Health app, which can detect sleeping problems such as sleep apnea and suggest treatment options. The Ultra 2, on the other hand, is similar to its predecessor Ultra 1, but with a few added components: improved processing speed and twice the battery life than the Apple Watch Ultra 1.

This watch also has an improved battery, restoring 80% of its battery in just 30 minutes. In addition, it can last up to 18 hours on a full charge. As always, the Series 10 has many apps such as Google Translate, Apple Pay, cellular data and the ability to stream music. Adding on, another watch, the Ultra 2 also came out along with the Series 10.
The Ultra 2 is deemed the best sports and adventure watch priced at $800 by the public. The “Ultra 2 is built for extremes[…]designed for the toughest environments,” according to Apple. It also has been certified to “EN13319”, the internationally recognized standard for diving accessories, which is an added feature that the Series 10 does not have. There is a big difference between the Ultra 2 and the Series 10 in terms of battery life. The Ultra 2 can last twice as long as Series 10, and only on a normal charge. Overall, this watch is quite luxurious, and is one that everyone should have, allowing everyone to enjoy all your favorite sports along with keeping track of fitness.
AirPods 4, Apple’s new generation of earbuds, comes with many new features. A new H2 Chip increases the quality of its audio, while simultaneously clearing background noise when one speaks and listens with the AirPods. It can last up to 5 hours on one charge, and multiple AirPods can connect to one phone. The AirPods also utilize Personalized Spatial Audio, which scans the depth of one’s face to create their own PSA. Especially for gaming, this can add a new level of depth towards online worlds and can help prevent exposure to outside noise. In addition, the premium version adds active noise cancellation for an extra $50.
