As seasons change, many look for ways to have fun in autumn. It is known as a season for getting cozy and staying in but many students search for ways to embrace the season indoors and outdoors too. At FHS, there are many students who look forward to this season every year and the exciting events that come with it.
FHS senior Yash Saswade enjoys fall for a number of reasons, including festive holidays.
“My favorite movie to watch in the fall is probably ‘The Grinch’ because I like setting myself up for a festive holiday season,” Saswade said.
To stay warm in colder seasons, many students enjoy indoor activities, like baking or watching television with friends. FHS senior Lia Kamhaji also spends her time watching seasonal movies.Throughout the fall season she watches many Halloween movies.
Some other movies that are popular during the fall season include “My Babysitter’s a Vampire,” “Hocus Pocus” and “Coco.” Many students also mentioned binge-watching the show “Gilmore Girls” during fall.
While staying in and watching fall movies is a great way to keep warm in the cold seasons, many spend their free time going to cafes. FHS senior and Starbucks employee, Mia Aharonoff, said that the cafe is busiest during fall and winter due to the attraction from a large variety of seasonal food and drinks. Saswade celebrates the festivity of fall through seasonal drinks.
“My favorite coffee to drink in the fall is a peppermint mocha,” Saswade said. “Because I like getting festive before Christmas actually comes around.”
Alongside ordering seasonal menu items, such as pumpkin spice coffees and foods, many go to cafes simply to do work and read during fall. Unlike many fall enjoyers, Kamhaji does not enjoy pumpkin spice, but the fall season has much more to offer than just pumpkins.
“If you make me a pie that does not have pumpkin I’ll eat it,” Kamhaji said. “I also love turkey, so during Thanksgiving, I always eat turkey.”
Fall introduces the festivity of the winter and contains many of its own holidays too, including Halloween, Thanksgiving, Día de los Muertos, Diwali and many more. Besides holidays, fall is also an opportunity to watch movies with friends and admire the color changes nature goes through in the fall.
