As the leaves start turning yellow and red, as seniors are finishing up their college applications and Halloween is over, autumn is arriving at FHS. With the different color palette, fresh crispness of air and a shift in routines, FHS students are preparing for the fall season.
With cooler temperatures, bright skies and natural scenery, students find themselves spending their time both indoors and outdoors. Romanticizing every minor activity, such as going on walks, studying in a coffee shop or going to a farmer’s market is what makes this season unique and different from other seasons. As foliage is fall’s biggest attraction, people spend their time going on drives, walks and having picnics in parks full of red, orange and yellow leaves. However, some students like to stay inside and enjoy the season indoors.
“[I like to] watch a movie with hot chocolate under a blanket,” FHS freshman Doron Mirsky said.
The colors of fall are known to be what makes the season so pleasant. With shades of brown, orange and khaki, fall includes a vibrant scenery and a comforting atmosphere, which gives people the chance to update their wardrobe with comfortable, stylish clothing that reflects the season’s warm, earthy tones. FHS students wear a variety of outfits.
“I like [wearing] sweaters and sweatpants,” FHS sophomore Fatema Shiyaji said. “Anything warm.”
The fall wardrobe is all about layering and wearing natural colors. People tend to wear clothes like jeans, long sleeve shirts and shoes like Uggs and Dr. Martens. These styles contain many shades of brown which illustrate the warmth and coziness of the season. The fall palette comes from the two main events during fall, Halloween and Thanksgiving. Pumpkin, the main fall food, comes in many forms like pumpkin drinks in coffee shops, pumpkin pie at Thanksgiving dinners and in almost every sweet dessert. Some other fall flavors include cinnamon and apple, which are the highlight in most food places during the season.
“I like [to drink] hot black tea [during the fall season],” Mirsky said.
During the fall season, the weather changes frequently from chilly to warm, but as the weather gets colder and colder, the leaves fall off the trees, students wear more and more layers and fall concludes. Fall is considered to be a short season as the weather is specific and does not stay for long.
As fall is not here for long, try to enjoy it while it lasts, and carry its magic forward, bringing a sense of appreciation and joy into the coming months.
