As the holiday season approaches, so do feelings of joy. But along with that comes the pressure and stress of picking out holiday gifts, especially for teenagers. Even though it can be stressful, gift giving is a great way to show love and appreciation for friends and family. Gift-giving can also be a good way to connect and get to know friends better.
When asking friends what they want for the holidays, they may be very indecisive.
There are many things to consider when giving gifts, including one’s budget. Holiday shopping can be draining to one’s wallet, especially if one feels obligated to buy multiple people gifts. When people bring up what they want or mention getting you a gift, it may pressure you into buying a gift for them. As much as everybody would like to buy a gift for all of their friends, most people do not have the money for that. If you do not know someone as well, candy and snacks are a generally good gift option.
“I will give all of my friends at least their favorite candy,” FHS freshman Samantha Quijano said.
People must also consider interests when gift-giving. Some good gift ideas for teens include snacks and clothes, especially from Hollister, according to Quijano and FHS freshman Lillian Fonceca.
“For my friends that like makeup [I’ll probably get them] a lip balm,” Quijano said.
If you want to get something more personal for your friends, you might want to consider getting something tied to one of their hobbies, like sports.
“I think it’d be cool to get new wrestling shoes,” Fonceca said.
Along with considering interest and budget, timing is also important. For example, one must take into consideration if the gift desired arrives on time or if there is time to go get it in-person. Going out to get gifts can be a challenge with an already busy schedule, so ordering online is always helpful. However, with all of the holiday rush, ordering a gift that will come in time can be hard, especially if ordering last minute.
There are many things to consider when holiday shopping, and although it can be a challenge, it can also be a fun way to spread love to your friends and family. If you want to get a gift that arrives on time, is in your immediate price range and is something that your loved one will enjoy, getting it ahead of time is a good idea. Whether it is clothes, snacks, candy or a more personalized gift, just remember that it is the thought that counts.
