As 2025 continues, there are many new trends to explore, from new fashion and clothing styles, to popular home decor.
Different types of clothing such as light pastel colors, athleisure, jeans and accessories have become more popular. Light pinks, greens and yellows are a few trending colors in clothing for the spring season. Additionally, athleisure has become a popular and versatile style. It blends athletic and leisure wear, to provide functionality as well as comfort. This type of clothing is usually made of synthetic materials, like nylon and polyester, allowing it to be worn in many different settings. Some examples of athleisure clothing are leggings, hoodies, sweatshirts and yoga pants. Jeans have been worn for many years, and recently, more specific types have been in style. Some of the biggest trends for jeans this year are wide-legged and flared as they are comfortable and can be worn as a casual or a dressed up outfit. Sweatpant-jeans are also another fashionable piece of clothing. Along with being comfortable, they are made from cotton fabric while still looking like denim.
“This year, I think crop tops and shorts [have become more popular],” FHS freshman Oviya Vasudevan said. “I see a lot of kids in school wearing that. [I think it is popular] because people think it looks fashionable. I personally like it too.”
In addition to clothing, accessories are becoming more popular in 2025. They can enhance outfits and express people’s various styles. Jewelry is one main aspect, and a few fashionable types are necklaces, different styles of rings, and two-toned metal jewelry. Specifically, maximalist necklaces are a popular and interesting addition to outfits, with bold colors, charms and beads.
“Some trends in jewelry that I like this year are gold rings, chain necklaces, gold necklaces, and anything just silver or gold,” FHS freshman Zahra Saleh said.
Another accessory that continues to be popular this year is decorative hair clips. With different designs and decorations, they add a unique look.
A trend that is rising this year is new home decor and designs. For example, using eco-friendly materials for interior design, like recycled and non-toxic materials for different decor items, is one trending design style. Furthermore, using casual and comfortable furniture, like larger sofas and pieces with rounded edges, is a main decor trend, and it helps to make rooms more aesthetic and cozy. For different interiors and rooms, warm metallics as well as neutral tones, are great colors, as they bring a comforting, calming and relaxing effect.
“Some trends in home decor that I like are silk pillows or pillowcases, and wall decor like posters or pictures and stickers,” Saleh said.
Overall, there are a variety of new trends, as well as trends that will continue to be common this year, both in fashion and decor.
