Ari Hernandez, who will attend De Anza next year, plans to transfer to UC Irvine using the Transfer Admission Guarantee, or the TAG program, that is offered by numerous community colleges. The TAG program enables eligible California community college students to receive guaranteed admission at certain UC campuses.
“I got into a school I wanted to go to, but it made more sense for me to stay at De Anza,” Hernandez said. “It also gave me more opportunities to check out different classes and see exactly which path works best for me.”
For Hernandez and many others, attending community college and then transferring to a four-year university is a cost-effective approach to higher education. Hernandez is looking forward to exploring the different opportunities De Anza has to offer.
“I’m really excited to create my own schedule,” Hernandez said. “[I would] also [like] to try out more [activities] outside of school groups and community [events].”
