Zenless Zone Zero (ZZZ), the latest action role-playing game from Hoyoverse, is gearing up for its highly anticipated second season, set to release on June 6, 2025. As players await new content, many are curious how the developers plan to adapt the game in response to player feedback and growing competition.
Set in a post-apocalyptic future where dimensional rifts called Hollows have consumed parts of cities and society, players in ZZZ take on the role of a Proxy, who helps other characters known as Agents take on missions in these dangerous zones. Season two will come with many changes and added areas to the map; most notably, combat and city areas will likely become both larger and better integrated, according to the recent Dev Talk uploaded to Zenless Zone Zero’s YouTube channel in April. ZZZ will also be available on Xbox in June 2025 along with the Version 2.0 update. Visual clarity and user interface design are additionally being improved upon as season two’s in-game traveling system will use a map instead of the current card screen, and the long loading screens seen when entering buildings in-game will also be minimized for greater efficiency.
The next area players will be heading to in the storyline is Waifei Peninsula and in 2.0+ players will also have access to places like Lemnian Hollow, Failume Heights and Aerospace City. In Waifei Peninsula there will be the Suibian Temple, which players will have a role in managing and restoring to its former glory. Furthermore, new characters will also be coming out, such as Void Hunter-level Agent Yixuan, the leader of Yunkui Summit, as well as Pan Yinhu, a panda, and Ju Fufu, a Tiger Thiren. Many other upcoming Agents were teased in the season two trailer as well, such as a robot named Seed and a red-haired character with horns named Orpheus. However, many ZZZ enjoyers have been saving up in-game currency (known as Polychromes) specifically for Agents from the long-awaited Angels of Delusion faction, whose drip marketing was leaked long ago. The Angels of Delusion have now been confirmed to be arriving at some point in season two, likely in a later version.
With all the new content and changes coming to Zenless Zone Zero, many players have been praising the game’s developers for their willingness to change aspects of the game and for listening carefully to player feedback. For example, in the past, ZZZ players could only roam with the Agents they had pulled on banners inside Hollows and such areas, whereas since then updates have made it so that Agents can be used in residential, non-combat areas as well, which successfully drew more players to the game. ZZZ also utilizes a unique television system in-game for certain gaming modes in the Hollow and when doing missions, which has been reduced in implementation compared to the game’s initial release in accordance with player feedback. As ZZZ continues to evolve, players are hopeful that developers will maintain this responsive approach to improving the game. With season two on the horizon, Zenless Zone Zero is truly shaping up to become an even bigger presence in the gaming industry.
