Marvel’s Avengers is an action role-playing brawler game co-developed by Crystal Dynamics and published by Square Enix. The game is played from a third-person perspective and includes a single-player story mode and an online multiplayer mode. It is inspired by both the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and the comics. The game was released Sep. 4, 2020. The main storyline takes place five years after the events of Avengers day (A-day), a day of celebration for the team that ends in tragedy, resulting in the Avengers being blamed. The team is forced to reassemble to stop the evil corporation Advanced Idea Mechanics (A.I.M.) from wiping out the world of all super-powered individuals.

The game includes the “Avengers Initiative” which is the two to four online multiplayer mode. The missions for multiplayer take place after the events of the main storyline (campaign). The campaign is not required to be completed to play multiplayer but there will be spoilers for it. There are many different mission types but after a while it starts to get repetitive, however more missions and characters do plan to be added into the game.

The developers announced that all downloadable content (DLC) that releases in the future will be free for all players. A few days before the game released the developers announced the first DLC character will be Kate Bishop aka Hawkeye. It is unknown when the first DLC will come out. But good news for PlayStation players they will be getting Spider-Man as an exclusive playable character. Just like Kate Bishop, there is no news when Spider-Man comes out for the PlayStation. A list of possible future playable characters was leaked online back in August but there has been no confirmation from the developers if it is real or not.

If people  want to buy the game for the multiplayer then they will be disappointed. It can be fun for a while as long as people have friends to enjoy it with, but it is not as good as some other game’s multiplayer modes. If people want this game for the story then they will be satisfied as it is a real blast. The story takes around 10-12 hours to finish so it will keep people busy for a good day. The base game is worth 60 dollars and the deluxe edition of the game is 80 dollars.

I was excited about this game ever since it was teased and announced in 2017. After I finished playing the campaign, I was amazed by the story that was told. It reminded me of the MCU but with its own twist. The endgame however is not as fulfilling as the story. As I mentioned earlier the missions begin to seem repetitive. In my opinion, the game would’ve been better if it was just the story and allowed players to have friends join them through it.
