The little girl watching the burning buildings depicted in the art piece represents the vietnam citizens watching their life as they know it being taken away from them. Although to many America seems like the land of endless opportunity, the Vietnam refugees who were forced to move there faced many obstacles and trauma. The hand reaching out at the end of the path represents the family being there with the person and helping them heal. We wanted to show that they are still filled with love and strength even after everything they have endured.
